Privacy Policy
This policy separates information you actively submit from technical information generated through ordinary use. It also explains the important point at which a recycler receiving an introduction becomes responsible for its own processing.
Who we are and our role
Sell Any Mobile is a product of Syhtek Software Solutions Ltd, built and operated by World Business Software Solutions, a specialist division of Syhtek Software Solutions Ltd. For personal data that we collect through this website, Syhtek Software Solutions Ltd is the data controller. This means we decide why and how that personal data is processed.
Privacy questions can be sent to [email protected] with “Privacy enquiry” in the subject line.
What this policy covers
This policy covers personal data processed by Sell Any Mobile when you browse, search, compare, submit an enquiry, ask for a price alert, report a concern or otherwise contact us. It also covers information needed to operate, secure, measure and improve the platform.
We do not buy, receive, inspect or pay for devices. Once you choose an independent recycler, that recycler’s collection and use of information for the proposed device sale is governed by its own privacy information. This policy does not control an independent recycler’s processing.
Information you provide to us
The data we collect depends on what you choose to do. Contact and enquiry forms may request your name, email address, telephone number, postcode or location, business and job details, device or stock information, recycler details, technical information and the substance of your question or concern.
Examples include Contact Us, Report a Concern, Sell Multiple Devices, Business Recycling, IT Asset Disposal, Sell Bulk Stock, Join Our Platform, Recycler Support, Partnerships, Media and Press, Build a Recycling Website and Connect Your Pricing. Each form asks only for the fields relevant to that route and gives context at the point of submission.
Please do not provide passwords, payment-card details, copies of identity documents, device backups or unnecessary sensitive personal information through a general enquiry form.
Information collected automatically
When you use the website, we may process technical and usage information such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, approximate location derived from network data, referring page, pages viewed, search terms, product and condition selections, interactions, timestamps, errors and security events.
This information helps deliver pages, keep searches and comparisons working, diagnose faults, prevent misuse, understand aggregate usage and improve the service. Cookie and similar-technology controls are explained in our Cookie Policy.
Product price alerts
If a product has no current recycler offer, you may choose to submit an email address for a notify-me alert. We use that address to tell you when an eligible recycler price becomes available for the selected product.
A product alert is not general marketing consent. We do not use an alert address to send unrelated promotional messages unless you make a separate choice that permits us to do so. We remove or suppress the alert when it has served its purpose, you withdraw it or it is no longer reasonably needed.
When enquiry details are shared with recyclers
Some services exist specifically to introduce a seller to relevant recyclers. Sell Multiple Devices and Sell Bulk Stock are clear examples. If you submit one of these forms, we may share the contact details and device or stock information you provide with one or more relevant recyclers so they can assess the enquiry and contact you directly.
We do not describe this as an incidental use. It is the purpose of those enquiry routes. The form should make that clear before you submit it. Where a route does not require a recycler introduction, we do not share the enquiry with recyclers merely because they are listed on the platform.
When a recycler receives your details for its own assessment, communication or proposed transaction, it normally acts as a separate independent controller. It is responsible for giving you its own privacy information, choosing a lawful basis and meeting its own retention, security and rights obligations.
How we use personal data
We use personal data to provide search and comparison functionality, deliver requested alerts, receive and respond to enquiries, introduce relevant sellers and recyclers where requested, administer recycler applications and support, investigate concerns, maintain records, secure and troubleshoot the service, measure performance, improve content and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal data as a commodity. We do not use personal data from a form to make unrelated assumptions about you. We do not process payment-card details for device sales because Sell Any Mobile does not process those transactions.
Our lawful bases
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use. The basis depends on the context:
- Consent: where you make a genuine choice, such as asking for a product alert or accepting optional cookies. You can withdraw consent, although earlier lawful processing remains valid.
- Steps at your request and contractual necessity: where processing is needed to provide a service you asked for or to take steps before an agreement, such as handling a specific enquiry or introduction.
- Legitimate interests: where we have a proportionate business need, such as securing the website, preventing abuse, understanding service performance, responding to ordinary messages and maintaining appropriate records, and your rights do not override that need.
- Legal obligation: where we must keep, disclose or otherwise process information to comply with law, regulation, court process or lawful authority.
- Legal claims: where information is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
Where more than one basis could appear relevant, we select the basis that most accurately reflects the real purpose rather than changing basis retrospectively for convenience.
International transfers
Some service providers may store or access information outside the United Kingdom. Before making a restricted transfer, we use a lawful mechanism appropriate to the destination and recipient. This may include UK adequacy regulations or contractual safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum, supported by the required data protection assessment and additional measures where needed.
We do not rely on a provider’s location label alone. We consider where information is actually processed and whether the level of protection remains appropriate.
How long we keep information
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including service delivery, security, complaints, legal claims and regulatory or accounting needs. The period varies by record rather than using one indefinite rule.
- Unsuccessful or routine enquiries are reviewed for deletion or anonymisation when the active conversation and reasonable follow-up period have ended.
- Recycler, business, complaint and legal correspondence may be kept longer where an ongoing relationship, dispute, safeguarding issue or legal limitation period makes that necessary.
- Product-alert data is kept until the alert is delivered, withdrawn or expires under the active alert schedule.
- Technical logs are generally retained for shorter operational and security periods, then deleted or aggregated.
- Consent and suppression records may be kept to demonstrate choices and ensure a withdrawal is respected.
We periodically review retention and may anonymise information so it can no longer identify a person.
How we protect personal data
We use proportionate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss and destruction. Measures may include access controls, role-based permissions, secure transport, service monitoring, backups, supplier assessment, contractual controls, secure development practices and incident procedures.
No internet service can promise absolute security. You should use official website addresses, avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information and contact us promptly if you believe information has been exposed or a message claiming to be from Sell Any Mobile is suspicious.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask us to confirm whether we process your personal data, provide access to it, correct inaccurate or incomplete data, erase it, restrict its use, provide certain data in a portable form, or stop processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time and object to direct marketing.
Rights are not absolute. An exemption or competing legal obligation may apply. We will explain if we cannot fully meet a request. We may ask for proportionate information to verify identity and protect data from unauthorised disclosure. We normally respond without undue delay and within one month, subject to lawful extensions for complex or multiple requests.
Send a request to [email protected] and describe the information or right involved. You do not need to use legal wording.
Children’s information
Sell Any Mobile is not intended for children to arrange device sales or business enquiries. A person must be legally capable of entering into the relevant recycler agreement. We do not knowingly design the service to profile children or market to them.
If we learn that a child has submitted personal data without an appropriate lawful basis or necessary adult involvement, we will review and delete or restrict it as appropriate. A parent, guardian or child with sufficient understanding may contact us about the child’s data rights.
Questions and complaints
Please contact us first so we can investigate a privacy concern. Email [email protected] or write to the correspondence address below. We will acknowledge the issue, gather the relevant facts and explain the outcome.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. The ICO is the UK supervisory authority for data protection. Current contact and complaint information is available at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You may complain to the ICO without contacting us first, although we welcome the opportunity to resolve the concern.
Policy updates and contact details
We may update this policy when law, guidance, services, suppliers or processing activities change. We will publish the revised version here with a new date and may provide a more prominent notice where a change materially affects people.
